As the high school sports year shifts to the winter season, Mid-Valley athletes are doing great things in different sports.

This week’s Athlete of the Week nominees are:
- Liam Spencer, Sprague basketball
- Avery Buss, McNary basketball
- Lizzy Bennett, West Salem basketball
- Emma Juarez, North Salem basketball

Liam Spencer, Sprague basketball: He has 24 points, four rebounds and three steals in the Olympians’ win against Century.
Avery Buss, McNary basketball: She had 18 points and six assists in the Celtics’ win against Century.
Lizzy Bennett, West Salem basketball: She had 18 points, seven rebounds, two assists and three steals in the Titans’ win against Liberty.
Emma Juarez, North Salem basketball: She had 27 points in the Vikings’ win against Roosevelt.
