The OSAA big school state basketball tournaments continue Thursday in Classes 6A, 5A and 4A.
The Mid-Valley has teams in all three classifications, with the West Salem girls and Woodburn boys playing in consolation games at 6A and 5A respectively, and the Cascade boys playing in the 4A state quarterfinals.
Silverton’s girls team is still alive in the 5A tournament, and will play for fourth place on Friday.

CLASS 6A — WEST SALEM 40, TUALATIN 37
West Salem’s girls basketball team is going to place at the 6A state tournament.
The Titans beat Tualatin 40-37 on Thursday in the consolation round to advance to Saturday’s fourth-place game.
Emma Zuniga scored 17 points and grabbed six rebounds for West Salem.
Key for the Titans was their free-throw shooting — they made 12 of 14 from the line.
West Salem will face Willamette at 9 a.m. Saturday at Chiles Center. With a win, the Titans place fourth, with a loss they would place sixth.
“Today was a new day and a new opportunity to play,” West Salem coach Katie Singleton said. “We want to be here, and we played hard to be able to stay. I am very proud of the girls.”
CLASS 5A — LA SALLE 45, WOODBURN 43
Woodburn’s boys basketball season came to an end Thursday with a 45-43 consolation round loss to La Salle.
Brody Hawley had 12 points and seven rebounds in the loss for the Bulldogs.
La Salle advances to the 5A fourth-place game.
CLASS 4A — CASCADE 74, MARIST 35
Cascade’s boys basketball team beat Marist 74-35 on Thursday to advance to the 4A state semifinals.
The Cougars will face either Gladstone or Junction City at 8:15 p.m. Friday in the semifinals.
Samuel Horne led defending state champion Cascade with 20 points and had six rebounds.
“I was extremely proud of the team today. Marist is a very well-coached team,” Cascade coach Justin Amaya said. “We’ve been talking the last two weeks about what it will take to stay on the right side of the bracket. Our boys did everything we’ve asked. So blessed to be on this ride with these guys.”
