McNary’s Max Blanco holds down Mountainside’s 
Brody Lybarger during the OSAA 6A 106-pound wrestling state championship at Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Portland on Sunday.

Mid-Valley wrestlers won seven state titles Sunday at the OSAA state championships at Veterans Memorial Coliseum.

In 6A boys, McNary’s Max Blanco (106 pounds) and Josh Friesen (170 pounds) won state championships. 

“I knew I was going to win, kind of,” said Blanco, who won 9-7 in the title match. “When it was 7-7, I’ve got to go all out now. I’ve got to give it everything I’ve got.”

In 6A/5A girls, West Salem’s Reese Lawson (145 pound), North Salem’s Mariko Sonis (120 pounds), McNary’s Ali Martinez (190 pounds) and Dallas’s Polly Olliff (105 pounds) won state championships.
