The South Salem High School community has set up a GoFundMe page to raise money to help increase facility security after vandalism earlier this week at Gilmore Field.
Max Price, the Saxons’ baseball coach, shared the link to donate on Twitter on Wednesday afternoon.
In his tweet, he said the funds would be used for security, not for fixing the damage caused Monday night by two teens in a truck. The teens face charges for criminal mischief in the first degree, according to Salem Police.
“To be clear, this is NOT to fix the damage, but to raise funds for security measures to help prevent the constant string of vandalism,” Price tweeted.
The fund was set up by South Salem Saxon Baseball Foundation president Dan Farrington.
According to the site, the fundraiser has a goal of $50,000. As of 7:30 p.m., it had raised $1,425 in about three hours from 12 donors.
