The South Salem High School community has set up a GoFundMe page to raise money to help increase facility security after vandalism earlier this week at Gilmore Field.
In his tweet, Price said the funds would be used for security, not for fixing the damage caused Monday night by two teens in a truck. The teens face charges for criminal mischief in the first degree, according to Salem Police. According to a Salem-Keizer Public Schools spokesperson, the district does plan to pursue the charges.
“To be clear, this is NOT to fix the damage, but to raise funds for security measures to help prevent the constant string of vandalism,” Price tweeted.
The fund was set up by South Salem Saxon Baseball Foundation president Dan Farrington.
According to the site, the fundraiser has a goal of $50,000. As of 3:30 p.m. Thursday, it had raised $2,065.
