Silverton’s football team got back on track last week with a playoff win against Springfield, and their state title defense continues Friday in the OSAA Class 5A state quarterfinals.
The No. 7 Foxes play at No. 2 Wilsonville at 7 p.m. Friday in the Statesman Journal Game of the Week.
Silverton (7-3 overall) had lost two in a row to finish the regular season, before bouncing back last week.
The Foxes, who won the Mid-Willamette Conference, are scoring 36.4 points per game this season, and allowing 32.9.

Wilsonville, which won 5A Special District 1, is scoring 36.5 points per game, and allowing 19.2 points per game.
The Foxes started the season 6-1, the lone loss coming in California.
Silverton then suffered consecutive setbacks to West Albany (21-20) and Lebanon (41-20).
Wilsonville (8-2) is on a six-game winning streak after a 2-2 start. Their losses came against No. 1 Summit and 6A Tualatin.
With a win, defending 5A state champion Silverton would advance to the state semifinals to face the winner of South Albany and Bend.
“We need to have a great week of practice,” Silverton senior Jackson Pfeifer said. “Everyone need to know their assignment. Really excited for this game.”
