2022 is set to go out with a bang on the Oregon Coast as 20+ foot waves are predicted to roll in on Sunday. If you are planning on visiting the beaches, be careful.

The National Weather Service (NWS) is predicting the event to begin Sunday and continue through this Wednesday. Waves are projected to be as high as 25 feet.

A high wind watch will be in effect through Oregon’s central coast with wind gusts of up to 65 MPH.

“Dangerous marine conditions are expected during this time, with high end gales likely, possibly reaching storm force.” Warns the NWS. “The maximum high surf may occur Tuesday afternoon and evening.”

Storm watching can be a fun activity, as long as you are doing it safely. Sticking to higher view points and overlooking rocky shelves for the most dramatic effect. If you plan to check out natures show on the Oregon Coast a few good options are Shore Acres by Coos Bay, and areas by Depot Bay, Yachats, Otter Point, and Port Orford.
