Western Oregon’s football program welcomed a class of new recruits Wednesday, including multiple players from the Mid-Valley.
The Wolves signings included linebacker Casen Collins from Sprague, offensive lineman Ethan Hedgecock from Dayton, and tight end Jackson Walsh from Cascade.
As of noon Thursday, Western Oregon had signed 38 recruits.
The Wolves signed 23 offensive players, 14 defensive players and one athlete.
Western Oregon signed two quarterbacks — Jakeb Vallance, who is 6-foot-3 and 200 pounds from Cheney, Washington, and Michael Phillips, who is 6-foot-5 and 205 pounds from Dallas, Texas.
Collins helped the Olympians go 6-5 and reach the second round of the OSAA Class 6A Columbia Cup playoffs in the fall.
“Just an overall great community and awesome game day environment,” Collins said. “Wolves are a team that want to win, and work towards that on and off the field. Can’t forget to mention they have an awesome coaching staff, and make me feel like I’m family.”
Hedgecock helped the Pirates go 9-3 and reach the OSAA Class 3A state semifinals.
Walsh helped the Cougars go 4-6 and reach the first round of the OSAA Class 4A state playoffs.
