With the last heat of summer fading into a cooler autumn, outdoor farmers markets are transitioning to indoor and holiday markets. Whether you are in Salem or in the surrounding smaller towns, here are some markets to look forward to for the rest of the year.
Silverton Wintertime Market
When: Oct. 15 – May 6, 2023
The Silverton Wintertime Market is held inside the Friend Church/Community Roots School to dodge the cold. You’ll find local vendors selling a variety of items including clothing, pet items, pickles, produce and jewelry.

Independence Farmers Market
When: April – November, Saturdays from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.
The original Independence farmers market is one of the few that continues well into fall. The market offers food, craft goods and produce. It is held in the Umpqua Bank parking lot.

Salem Holiday Market
When: December 9 – 11, varied hours
The Salem Holiday Market will be at the Oregon State Fair and Exposition Center in Columbia Hall and Jackman Long buildings. More than 250 vendors will offer handmade, handcrafted or homegrown products such as food, decor, clothing and tools. There will be kids activities, pet adoptions, an annual gingerbread house contest, an annual tree decorating contest and interactive display area. Admission and parking is free.
