The stage at Infinity Room in downtown Salem.

If you’re trying to find things to do in downtown Salem, it can be overwhelming. Salem actually has a variety of things going on if you know where to look.

Not many establishments are open Monday or offer events that day, but usually every other day of the week is exciting. Here’s some places that typically have live entertainment or similar events at their establishments.

Infinity Room

Both Salem’s downtown dedicated performance space and vegan kitchen, Infinity Room regularly has comedians, musicians and other variety acts. The venue is open Wednesday through Sundays, depending on the type of events booked.

Infinity Room typically has comedy open mic nights on Wednesdays, poetry and music open mic nights on Thursdays and drag brunches on the second and fourth Sundays. Other nights, musicians, comedians, improv dinners and more are on the calendar. Some events require tickets purchased online ahead of time, others are sold both online and at the door, but it’s recommended to buy in advance.

For more, visit the Infinity Room website: infinityroomsalem.com/calendar.

The Night Deposit Whiskey Library

The Night Deposit Whiskey Library is most well known as the only club in downtown Salem, but it also offers trivia and themed events.

As downtown Salem’s only club, The Night Deposit Whiskey Library is most notable for offering dancing on the weekends. Fortunately, the Night Deposit also offers trivia on Thursdays, drag brunches on the first Sunday of the month and more. There are usually holiday-oriented events held at the Night Deposit.

To stay up to date on events, you can follow the Night Deposit’s Facebook page.

The Dehn Bar

The Dehn Bar is a smaller bar, compared to others in downtown, but offers a range of activities including open mic comedy, live music and food pop-ups.

The small Dehn Bar is surprisingly busy inside. The bar offers open mic comedy on Tuesdays, regular pop-ups offered by King Phou of King’s Kitchen and live music. Since the venue is smaller, the setting is definitely more intimate, compared to others around town.

To get info on when events are happening at the Dehn Bar, check out the bar’s Facebook page. To get more details on King’s Kitchen pop-ups, you can check out their Facebook page as well.

The Alleycat Bar

The Alleycat Bar, slightly hidden away, is among the area’s most popular spots. The bar offers open mic comedy on Wednesdays and has a DJ on weekend evenings. Because the bar is small, expect to be more inundated by noise than at others. It’s recommended to not come in as a big group because of the venue size as well.

Fork Forty Food Hall

The Gray-Belle Building houses the Fork Forty food Hall and apartments at 440 State St. in downtown Salem.
