Sprague falls to Jesuit in 6A quarterfinals
The No. 9 Olympians lost in five sets to No. 1 Jesuit on Friday morning in the Class 6A state quarterfinals.
Sprague lost 23-25, 19-25, 25-14, 25-23, 15-12.
Jesuit moves on to face Nelson in the semifinals Friday night.
The Olympians move on to the consolation, where they will face Oregon City at 8 a.m. Saturday. With a win, Sprague would advance to the fourth-place match.
“I’m so proud of how our girls showed up today against Jesuit. We came out guns blazing and gave Jesuit a tough match,” Sprague coach Anne Olsen said. “I’m so impressed that our girls kept the fighting spirit throughout the whole match. We are looking forward to our match tomorrow against Oregon City.”
Silverton falls in 5A quarterfinals
The Foxes fell to Bend on Friday in the Class 5A state quarterfinals.
Silverton lost 25-12, 25-20, 25-15.
The Foxes next will play South Albany at 10 a.m. in the consolation.
Cascade advances to 4A semifinals
The Cougars took care of Henley 3-0 on Friday morning to advance to the Class 4A state semifinals.
Cascade beat Henley 25-10, 25-17, 25-9.
The Cougars will face Mazama at 6:30 p.m. in the semifinals.
With a victory, Cascade would reach Saturday’s state title match.
Salem Academy advances to 2A semifinals
Salem Academy cruised past Willamina on Friday in the Class 2A state quarterfinals.
Salem Academy won 25-22, 25-20, 25-17, and next will play in the state semifinals at 8:30 p.m. Friday night.
With a victory, Salem Academy would advance to Saturday’s state championship game.
Willamina will play at 10 a.m. Saturday in the consolation round.
St. Paul advances to 1A semifinals
The Buckaroos made quick work of Powder Valley in a 3-0 win to advance to the Class 1A state semifinals.
St. Paul won 25-17, 25-21, 25-21.
The Buckaroos now will face North Douglas at 6:30 p.m. Friday.
With a victory, St. Paul would advance to Saturday’s state title match.
